Growing up I was told.......

All my life I been told I'm too short to model, play basketball, professional dance, tennis, etc. Or my voice was too squeak to become an professional speaker. Oh this one is my favorite, I should try to be a nurse because it's good money and there's never a shortage, lol. Because of that I let those comments hold me back from my dreams. Not anymore!!! I started modeling, dancing, and I'm in school majoring in Communications. Im following all my dreams no matter how big or small, and that's something that's meaningful to me.

P.S. My momma told me I was something special, Rest in Paradise Ethel Vae Pledger!!!!!! Thank you for always telling me to be myself and follow my dreams. I love you eternally your baby girl

The Many Faces of Sickle Cell Disease Earlier this on month we started spreading awareness on a serious but rarely discussed condition. Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects people of many racial and ethnic groups. In the United States, 90,000 to 100,000 people―mainly Blacks or African Americans―have SCD. The disease occurs among about 1 of every 500 Black or African-American births and among about 1 out of every 36,000 Hispanic-American births. Other people affected include those of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian origin. In addition, more than 2 million people carry the sickle cell gene that allows them potentially to pass the disease on to their children. Such a serious disease need more awareness then it gets. The emotional roller coaster in the amusement park of our minds can really take us for a ride that we may not be ready for. When you meet someone and your spending that time getting to know them you emotions are like a seatbelt, strapped tight to you heart as the time flies and this emotional roller coaster is going up it's like you on a high, the longer things go well the higher you get.
