Put the Shoe On The Other Foot

Judge

Take a second and count your fingers and your toes, then think about people you see that dont have all of their limbs or in a wheelchair. Think about all of the people you have lost in your life and how thru it all you are still able to be here. We have no idea about what battles people fight on a daily basis.

You never knew that the kid in your class has knotty hair and smells like trash from last week. He didnt sleep well lastnight because his mother smokes crack and her house is a trap house. So when he is asleep in your class or always has an attitude you have to open your mind and not be so quick to judge a person. The kid you talk greasy about already has low self esteem and gets taken down (cracked on) around his way. Take a walk in his world for a minute and imagine the woman you love dearly is a lost soul and your the oldest with 4younger siblings, you would have to grow up fast. You see the older dudes that you looked up to selling drugs making money, then they start to recruit your friends so then you have a choice to either get money with your friends or continue to struggle. Im not saying that every youth from a disfunctional family sells drugs but i want you to understand that if its an easy way to make money, provide for your family and still fit in, its a strong possibility that he or she can be drafted. These days its easier to get in trouble because the kids dont have recreation centers, the music has them wanting to pop pills, shoot guns, move bricks and fuck bitches. The videos got dudes dressing like girls, pants saggin looking crazy.

These kids are emulating what they see, I was one of those kids that pulled thru, They respect their own and its my job to give them some knowledge and share past experiences to let them know they can change and also have a mind of their own. We cant save the world but we can be positive role models and share our stories to let the youth know that they have a chance to be whatever they wanna be in life besides rappers, drug dealers and ball players. Self esteem issues and mental health issues go ignored in society these days but we all can restore it and turn things around. Get your child(ren) active and find out what their interest are because they are an investment. Im sure they will thank you for being an intricate part of their lives and they will be happy that you didnt quit on them. Together we can make a difference

Thank you for showing your support for sickel cell awareness month #Boldlipsforsickelcell Wellness Wednesday

The Many Faces of Sickle Cell Disease Earlier this on month we started spreading awareness on a serious but rarely discussed condition.   Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects people of many racial and ethnic groups. In the United States, 90,000 to 100,000 people―mainly Blacks or African Americans―have SCD. The disease occurs among about 1 of every 500 Black or African-American births and among about 1 out of every 36,000 Hispanic-American births. Other people affected include those of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian origin. In addition, more than 2 million people carry the sickle cell gene that allows them potentially to pass the disease on to their children. Such a  serious disease need more awareness then it gets.
